CASE STUDIES
Real stories of partnership and impact - see how we’ve helped organisations across Aotearoa strengthen their understanding of Te Ao Māori and build lasting cultural capability.
Te Reo Māori Courses - Sport New Zealand
Ako worked alongside Sport NZ to deliver an organisation-wide learning programme aligned with their Te Ao Māori strategy. This included supporting teams across the country to grow capability, confidence, and cultural understanding in ways that strengthened relationships and embedded Te Ao Māori values throughout their organisational culture.
Bespoke E-Learning - Ministry of Justice
Ako partnered with the Ministry of Justice to design and develop four bespoke e-learning modules for Te Kura Whakawā - The School for Judges. Judges across the motu required culturally grounded learning that reflected their unique judicial contexts, so we created a tailored suite that combined deep cultural insight with engaging, flexible delivery accessible nationwide.
E-Learning Solutions - Department of Conservation
Ako partnered with the Department of Conservation to implement the Te Whāriki Learning Suite as an organisation-wide cultural capability solution. Designed for scalable, flexible delivery, the six-module programme supported staff across Aotearoa to strengthen their understanding of te reo Māori and te ao Māori.
The result was consistent, accessible learning that built confidence and supported more meaningful engagement with mana whenua in everyday practice.
Consultation - New Zealand Law Society
Ako supported the New Zealand Law Society to prepare for an organisation-wide pōwhiri and build readiness for cultural capability development across the organisation. This work provided a strong foundation for ongoing engagement, helping their people understand tikanga, roles, and expectations in a way that was mana-enhancing and authentic.
Workshops - New Zealand School of Dance
Ako delivered a tailored cultural capability workshop for the New Zealand School of Dance.. The session focused on strengthening understanding of Te Ao Māori and tikanga in everyday practice, supporting their team to engage more meaningfully and confidently with te ao Māori in their everyday teaching practice.
Te Reo Māori Translations - EECA
Ako provided culturally authentic translation services for the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA), ensuring that key documents were translated with accuracy, respect, and cultural integrity. Our team delivered translations that upheld te reo Māori meaning while maintaining EECA’s professional tone and kaupapa alignment.
